SAPSASA and PE Update Term 4 Week 7 2016

SAPSASA Boys Softball

The SAPSASA Boys Softball team played against Gulfview Heights Primary School on Tuesday 29th November. The final result was 8-32 in favour of Colonel Light Gardens. Their next game is the Finals, on Thursday 8th December at Softball Headquarters, Barratt Reserve. A great effort boys.

Netball South Australia Beach Energy 3 Umpires Course

27 students attended the 3 Umpires Course on Wednesday 23rd November from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. The course work covered umpires code of conduct, positioning, vision, hand signals, sanctions, free pass, penalty pass, contact, obstruction, intimidation, injury/illness and blood, discipline and harassment. They also learnt how to blow the whistle in a variety of ways for different outcomes. Well done Jesscia C, Emma S, Kiana M, Ruby Z, Georgia L, Karla G, Abby K, Jessica Z, Ariana T, Marielle B, Lily R, Gypsy O, Halle S, Grace H, Lily H, Phobe H, Tilly M, Lucy P, Lian M, Gracie T, Amelia K, Isobell D, Emerson Rose D, Stella M, Emili R, Charlotte O-G and Courtney W. These students can begin to umpire competition matches as they gain more experience and further their umpiring experiences by becoming a class C, B or A badge umpire in the future.

Get Court Netball Carnival

Four netball teams participated in the Get Court Netball Carnival. All teams played exceptionally well and demonstrated amazing resilience and fair play. A big thank you goes to Teresa Rosenzweig for helping me organise coaches, funding and teams. Thank you to Mandy Rebbeck, Megan Dowd, Gemma Williams, Sarah Kennedy and Lynne Angley who all contributed to coaching the teams on the day. A big thank you to the parents who transported, this enabled us to keep the costs down. The results were:

Year 4 team came runners up. Congratulations to Chloe D, Chloe R, Chloe V, Beth V-R, Bianca R, Georgia PS, Chelsea H, Jessica M, Grace B, Amy H, Talulla S-M and Maggie H.

Year 5 team came 4th. Congratulations to Ava B, Lucy P-S, Lily R, Halle S, Sophie W, Emili R, Amelia K, Paige M, Jess Z, Mia M-B, Lian M and Stella M.

Year 5/6 team came 3rd. Congratulations to Sammy B, Jess C, Ruby Z, Demi K, Grace A, Phoebe H, Abby K, Gracie T, Charlotte O and Tilly M.

Mixed open team came 4th. Congratulations to Courtney W, Emma S, Kiana M, Finn W, Billy E, Jacob M, Charlie F and Noah H.

Well done everyone on a top effort in team work and fair play.

SAPSASA District Cricket

Congratulations to Jed O and Jackson A who both played in the carnival for the SAPSASA City South Cricket team. Overall their team came 4th in their division. Well done boys.

Jasmin E represented the SAPSASA Western Metropolitan District Cricket team at the carnival. Her team came first. She made 25 runs for the week and took 5 wickets in the 7 games played. Well done Jasmin.

Jump Rope For Heart

The jump rope rewards have finally arrived. It will be distributed by the end of the term.

SAPSASA and PE Update Term 4 Week 5 2016

T20 Blast School Cup

On Tuesday 8th November the T20 Cricket team went to Adelaide Oval and played against 20 other schools for the T20 Blast School Cup. Their participation and sportsmanship earned them 7th place. Congratulations to Connor S, Patrick D, Kern M, Henry R, Jackson A, Alexander T, Charlie F, David W, Jed O, Dylan H, Daniel T and Matthew T. A big thank you to Corey Smith for coaching the boys and to the parents who helped with transportation.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls Softball Knockout Teams

The SAPSASA Girls Softball team went through to the next round because the competing team had to forfeit. We played on Wednesday 16th November at 9.45am against Mercedes at Mercedes College. The final score was 28-13, Mercedes favour. A great effort girls. Thank you to Selena Bushell who coached the girls.

The SAPSASA Boys Softball team won against Brighton Primary School on Thursday 10th November. The final result was 18-6. A great effort boys. Their next game will be played against either St Columba or Gulfview Heights Primary School on or before 25th November.

PE Week

This week was PE Week, a time to promote a healthy lifestyle through physical exercise.

The 36ers came to our school on Tuesday 15th November at 2pm.  Jeremy M won the poster competition and Christopher S won the dress up competition. Well done to the following year 6 and 7 students who played a scratch match against the 36ers. Congratulations Kern M, Dylan H, Patrick D, David W, Brody F, Jackson A, Jacob M, Henry R, Lily V, Georgia R, Amelia E, Aneesa, Ava B, Anthony T, Thomas W, Charlie F, Billy E, Finn W.  Fun was had by all.

On Thursday 17th Teachers vs Students netball match was cancelled due to the hot weather conditions. It has been rescheduled and will be played on the 14th December, last week of term 4.

Netball South Australia Beach Energy 3 Umpires Course

I was inundated by students in years 5, 6 and 7 who nominated their interest in attending the 3 Umpires Course. I have sent out forms to the students who put their names down. It is a three hour course being held at Colonel Light Gardens Primary School on Wednesday 23rd November from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. The cost per student will be $7.

School Sports Australia National Athletics

Congratulations to Kaitlin R who has been selected to represent the state at the School Sports Australia National Athletics Championships in Sydney. She will be competing in the multi events, 100m sprint and relays.

 

 

 

 

SAPSASA Softball

Congratulations to the SAPSASA boys softball team. They won against Brighton primary school yesterday. Final score 18-6. I’m just waiting to hear who they play next.
The SAPSASA girls softball team didn’t have to play this week due to a forfeit. They will be playing Mercedes on Wednesday morning 16th November at Mercedes College game starting at 9.45am. Good luck girls.

SAPSASA Boys Knockout Cricket and T20 Blast School Cup

The SAPSASA Boys Cricket Knockout team played Sacred Heart on Monday 24th October. The team played well but were defeated by Sacred Heart College. They now are looking forward to participating in the T20 Blast School Cup at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday 8th November. Good luck boys.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls Softball Knockout Teams

The SAPSASA Girls Softball team are playing their next game on Wednesday 9th November on Mortlock Oval. Game commencing at 9.30am against Flagstaff Hill.

The SAPSASA Boys Softball team are heading over to Brighton Primary School on Thursday 10th November. Their game will commence at 10am.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls District Cricket State Carnivals

Congratulations to Jackson A and Jed O for being selected to represent SAPSASA City South District Cricket team. Congratulations to Jasmin E who was successful in being selected for the SAPSASA Western Metro Combined Girls Cricket team. They will be playing against other districts in the carnival on 21st to the 24th November.

PE Week

PE Week is fast approaching 14th to 18th November. The 36ers are coming to our school on the 15th November at 2pm. Don’t forget to make a poster and win a prize.

Netball South Australia Beach Energy 3 Umpires Course

An expression of interest has been sent out to all students in years 5, 6 and 7 to nominate their interest in attending the 3 Umpires Course I have organised. It is a three hour course being held at Colonel Light Gardens Primary School on Wednesday 23rd November from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

The aim of the course “….is to attract young people to netball umpiring by introducing them to an aspect of the sport other than coaching and playing. Netball umpiring is a great way to meet people, learn new skills, stay physically active and get paid while having fun. In the Beach Energy 3 Umpires Course emphasis is placed on practical activities with drills and group work to assist the theoretical learning.”

The cost per student will be $7.

Taekwondo in PE

This week George Andrews from National Taekwondo Adelaide came in and ran an introductory session about Taekwondo.

“The training is designed to help your child to develop and improve their confidence, self-discipline, coordination, and overall fitness level, and to give them the skills of self-defence that will last a lifetime.”

SACA Milo Cricket Incursion

On Friday 28th of October classes from Reception to year 4 attended SACA Milo Cricket session. The sessions improved their understanding of the fundamental movements required in cricket of hitting, catching, running and fielding. All students enjoyed the session.
