Congratulations to Yui T, William H and Bailey C who competed in the City South Sapsasa District Metropolitan State Swimming Championships on Thursday 16th March at SA Aquatics and Leisure Centre. They all achieved personal bests in their events. Well done.

Sapsasa Boys Knockout Softball

The boys Sapsasa Softball team Noah H, Jack B, Mitchell O, Josh B, Charlie F, Austin B, Luke T, Isaac B, Ocar V, Samuel B and Jesse Z played their first game on Tuesday 21st March on Mortlock Park against Flagstaff Hill Primary School. The final score was 22 to 5. Congratulations to our team. Their next game will be against either Hackham East or St Peter’s Lutheran before the end of the term. A big thank you to Shaun Heeps who is coaching the team.

Sapsasa Girls Knockout Softball

Georgina W, Courtney W, Jessica C, Jessica Z, Abby K, Kiana M, Sammy B, Ruby Z, Emma S, Ava B, Lily R and Sophie W who have been selected in the Sapsasa Sofball team. Thank you to Renae Simmons who has offered to coach the team. The team played their first game on Friday 24th March against Westbourne Park Primary School on Mortlock Park. The final score was 18 to 7. Congratulations to our team. Their next game will be against Crafers before the end of the term.

Sapsasa Cross Country Carnival

The Southern Heights/City South Combined District SAPSASA Cross Country Carnival will be held on Friday 19th May from 11.45am – 2.45pm at Belair National Park, Main Oval. The Cross Country team has been selected for this event. Congratulations to Evie Z, Amelia H, Maggie H, Lucas E, Ned B, Toby B, Flynn S, Alex G, Leon R, Sam W, Max B, Jack M, Noah T, Nellie K, Giselle D, Lilly S, Chloe V, Syifa P, Samuel A, Matteo H, Isaac B, Max E, Bastian S, Alex S, Angus C, Dylan H, Marielle B, Abbie K, Lilly R, Paige M, Amelia K, Jessica Z, Stella M, Oscar C, Mitchell O, Jacob T, Jack B, Josh B, Chantilly J, Jessica C, Shae W, Kayla H, Callum S and Samuel B.  This event is used to select the SAPSASA District Cross Country Team for City South District to run at the State Cross Country Carnival on Thursday 1st June. Last year a number of students were successful in being selected. I will be meeting up with all the students this Friday. All students will receive a map of the course at Belair National Park, consent and medical forms.

Sapsasa Boys and Girls Football Knockout teams

Congratulations to Mitchell O, Charlie , Jack B, Charlie W, Ethan B, Josh B, Braydon B, Daniel T, Matthew T, Oscar C, Cormack M, Ethan S, Harry H, Jesse Z, Callum S, Samuel B, Max S, Sean H, Harry C and William H who have been selected to represent Colonel Light Gardens in the Boys Football Knockout competition. James Simmons will be coaching the team. Practises sessions will begin in Term 2.

This year is very exciting. We have for the first time an all girls football team. Congratulations to Jessica C, Ebony V, Sophie A, Gracie T, Chantilly T, Kiana M, Ruby Z, Charlotte O, Courtney W, Sammy B, Paige M, Demi K, Abby K, Eliana F, Evelyn C, Jasmin E, Lily R, Stella M, Georgia L and Amelia K who have been selected. Rick Bennallack will be coaching the team. Practise sessions will begin in Term 2.

Sapsasa Boys and Girls Basketball teams

Due to the turn out of students and various skills Ashleigh Blight and myself have decided to run one more trial. Thursday 30th March. From this trial we will select the teams for the Basketball Championships  in Term 3, 9th and 10th of August. The teams will be published in the next newsletter.

Sapsasa Softball State Carnival team selection

Congratulations to Abbie K, Jessica C and Sammy B who have been selected to represent City South at the Sapsasa Softball State Carnival from Monday 3rd April until Friday 7th April at Barratt Reserve, West Beach.

Sapsasa District Teams District notes have put put up on the PE Blog and distributed to interested students for the following trials:

Girls Sapsasa Netball State Carnival trials, Girls and Boys Sapsasa Soccer State Carnival trials, Boys Sapsasa Football trials. If you require more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

SAPSASA U12 State footy team

Students born in 2005 who are talented footballers who play for Colonel Light Gardens school, club or district are invited to go to the SAPSASA website and nominate via the online form to participate in the trials. http://www.decd.sa.gov.au/sport/pages/sport/interstatesapsasa/

The trials will run initially from April 18 to 20 at Westminster School from 9am to 2pm. The team selected will then travel to Darwin later in the year to represent South Australia. If you have any questions please contact me before the end of the term.

Sapsasa Swimming

Congratulations to Yui T, William H and Bailey C who have been selected to compete in the City South Sapsasa District Metropolitan State Swimming Championships. They will be competing on Thursday 16th March at SA Aquatics and Leisure Centre.

Sapsasa Boys Knockout Softball

T20 Blast School Cup – Girls and Boys team

On Wednesday 15th March the both teams played four T20 games against other schools in our district at Waite Oval. The girls T20 team; Jasmin E (Captain),Jessica C, Paige M, Abby K, Kiana M, Sammy B, Ruby Z, Emma S and Courtney W came first overall and have been invited to play at Adelaide Oval in Term 4. If they win the competition they will be playing T20 cricket in Melbourne at the end of Term 4. Practise sessions will be Thursdays after school at Pasadena High School. A big thank you to Mario Tavasci who is supporting me in coaching the team.

The boys team; Daniel T, Matt T, Rohan L, Mannash D, Nathan H, Charlie F, Jack B, Mitchell O and Josh B played extremely well coming third overall. A great job boys. Again thank you to Mario Tavasci for coaching the boys team.

Sapsasa Girls Knockout Cricket

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to play in the Sapsasa Girls Knockout Cricket team. Sabiha A, Chantilly J, Jessica C, Paige M, Abby K, Kiana M, Jasmin E, Sammy B, Ruby Z, Emma S, Ava B, Neha R, Aneesa S, Courtney W and Demi K. Thank you to Mario Tavasci who will be helping me coach the team. Both Highgate and St Peters Lutheran have forfeited so the girls will be playing against either Stirling East or Crafters by the 3rd November. Practise sessions will be Thursdays after school at Pasadena High School. It is the first time we have entered a girls’ cricket team into Sapsasa and T20. This team has lots of potential.
