SAPSASA Girls and Boys Knockout Teams
The boys netball team, Oscar C, Jack B, Mitchel O, Harry H, Joshua S, Josh B and Nathan H played on Wednesday afternoon, 16th May against Scotch College. It was a very exciting game. Colonel Light Gardens will now play Hawthorndene Primary Schools on Wednesday 20th June at Hawthorndene Primary – game commencing at 1.30pm.

The girls Netball team Paige M, Jessica Z, Sophia W, Halle S, Lily R, Sophie A, Amelia K, Ariana T and Ma M-B played against Cabra College on Monday 21st May at Colonel Light Gardens Primary School. The final a score was 17 to 36. Cabra College will continue in the knockouts. A big thank you to Jess Roberts who coached the team.

Both Boys and Girls soccer teams played on Friday 18th May on Mortlock Park both against Mitcham Primary School. The boys team, Sean D-W, Ocar C, Jack B, Mitchell O, Charlie W, Max E, Alex S, Jacob H, Lucas D-B, Joshua S, Jasper L, Izaiah T, Josh B and Seth A were successful in scoring 4 to 3. They will now play Westbourne Park Primary on Wednesday 13th June on Mortlock Oval, game commencing 9.45am. The girls soccer team, Ocea C, Mabel L, Darcy G, Gypsy O, Georgia L, Amelia K, Gracie T, Paige M, Laura B, Syifa P, Ariana T, Laura N, Charlize J and Jessica Z game was as exciting the final scor 3-4 Mitcham’s advantage. A big thank you to Briana Rae for coaching the team.

The Boys football team, Jacob T, Alex S, Sean D-W, Charlie M, Josh S, William H, Harry C, Samuel A, Max S, Harry L, Oscar C, Jack B, Mitchel O, Braydon B, Josh B, Rohan L, Max T, Lukas E, Lewis S, Tyler H and Oskar E played against Burnside Primary School Friday afternoon on 18th May on Mortlock Park The final score 9 to 76. Burnside will continue playing in the knockout. A big thank you to James Simmons who coached the team this year.

The girls football team, Mia, Gypsy O, Georgia L, Maggie H, Chloe V, Sophie A, Amani N, Laura B, Emili R, Amelia K, Gracie T, Lily R, Paige M, Ariana T, Sophia W, Darcy, Laura N, Jas main P and Jessica Z played against St Mary’s College on Tuesday morning on 22nd May on Mortlock Park. St Mary’s College will continue in the knockouts. A big thank you to Katina Athanasos for coaching the team.

SAPSASA Basketball Trials for year 6 and 7 girls and boys
The basketball trials final trial was held last Monday for the girls and last Wednesday for the boys. Congratulations to the boys team William H, Samuel A, Sam L, Max S, Josh B, Nathan H, Jack B, Alex S, Mitch O and Oscar C and the girls team Sophie A, Paige M, Jessica Z, Ariana T, Jazz P, Amani N, Ocea and Nellie. They will be playing at the Basketball District Championships on Wednesday 25th July at Pasadena.

SAPSASA Hockey and Soccer District selection
A huge congratulations to Henry W, Isabelle D and Ashleigh S who will be representing Southern Heights and City South districts at the Hockey State Carnival from 25th to 29th June.
Congratulations to Charlie W who has been selected to represent City South in the SAPSASA District Soccer Championships also being held from 25th to 29th June. A very exciting time for these students.

SAPSASA State Cross Country Championships
Again I was fortunate to have the opportunity to manage the City South State Cross Country Team on Thursday 7th June with Jeff Wray. We had nine students from out school who participated to their personal best. Congratulations to Coco M, Sage S, Samuel K, Will C, Lewis S, Ben V-R and Lucy W. The boys 10 year old team won a bronze medal. Well done to Samuel K and Will C. Both boys have been invited to trial for the State Team. A great effort.

SAPSASA Swimming results and SAPSASA District Swimming Championships
On Friday 2nd March students from our school, Bianca R, Darcy G, Jakob R, Thomas T, William H, Bailey C, Alex G, Olivia S and Rory P competed in the SAPSASA Swimming Carnival held at the outdoor Marion Pool, they all did extremely well, gaining a lot of ribbons. A big thank you to Ashleigh Blight who stood in for me whilst I was on leave.
On Thursday 22nd February Thomas T and Darcy G were invited to attended the SAPASASA District Swimming Championships, representing City South at the Indoor Marion Pool. Thomas T swam 10 y o Butterfly, Backstroke and 10yo Freestyle Relays and Darcy G swam 13 y o Freestyle relay. They both competed really well and achieved their personal best. Kim Boothey assisted managing the team. Well done.

SAPSASA Knockout Girls Cricket
On Tuesday 27th March our girls cricket team Paige M, Mia M-B, Emili R, Lily R, Darcy G, Sophia W, Jessica Z, Gypsie O, Amelia K, Maggie H, Gracie T and Ariana T played against Marymount College in Hove. The final result was 47runs 9 out to 18 runs 4 out in favour of Marymount College. The team was coached by Kim Boothey. A great effort for the first match of the season and for many the first game of cricket.

SAPSASA Knockout Girls Softball
Our girls team, Maggie H, Mia M-B, Lily R, Paige M, Sophia W, Amelia K, Laura N, Darcy G and Jessica Z played against Westbourne Park Primary School last Friday 23rd March on Mortlock Park. The final score was in favour of Colonel Light Gardens Primary School. 18 to 7. Congratulations girls. Their next game will be against Belair Primary School by the end of the term. Thank you to Renae Simmons who is coaching the team this year.

SAPSASA Knockout Boys Softball
The boys softball team Joshua S, Jack B, Mitchell O, Jacob T, Josh B, Finn E Luke T, Ashton B, Harry H, Luke P and Nathan H played against Crafers Primary School on Wednesday 14th March on Mortlock Park. The final score was 19runs to 7runs. Colonel Light Gardens won and will now be playing Wednesday 4th April against either Woodcroft or St Michaels Lutheran College on Mortlock Park at 11.45am. The team is being coached by Kim Boothey.

SAPSASA Knockout Soccer teams
Both soccer teams have been selected. Congratulations to our girls soccer team Mabel L, Ocea, Darcy G, Gypsy O, Georgia L, Amelia K, Gracie T, Paige M, Laura B, Syifa P, Ariana T, Laura N, Charlize and Jessica Z. The team will be coached by Briana Rae.
Congratulations to Charlie W, Max E, Oscar C, Jack B, Mitchell O, Alex S, Joshua S, Sean D-W, Jasper L, Josh B, Seth A, Jacob H, Isaiah T and Lucas D. The competition was intense and it was extremely hard to choose so many skilled players. A big thank you to Shane Pluck who will be coaching the boys. Both teams will be playing early next term.

SAPSASA Netball teams
Congratulations to Jessica Z, Mia, Sophia W, Halle, Lily R, Sophie A, Paige M, Amelia and Ariana who have been selected to play in the SAPSASA Knockout Girls Netball team. The team will be coached by Jess Roberts.
Congratulations to Oscar C, Joshua S, Josh B, Jack B, Harry H, Mitchel O, Max S, Samuel A and Nathan H who have been selected to play in the SAPSASA Knockout Boys Netball team. Kim Boothey will be coaching the boys. Both teams will be playing early term 2. Good luck.

SAPSASA Cross country
Over 50 students have shown an interest to compete in the SAPSASA Cross Country championships to be held next term at Belair Natioanl Park. Practise sessions are being held on Friday mornings at 8am. If they are successful at this trial students will be invited to represent City South at Oakbank on Thursday June 7th at the SAPSASA District Cross Country Championships.

SAPSASA District Softball team selections
Congratulations to Maggie H who has been selected to represent City South at the carnival at Barrett Reserve in week 11. A big thank you to Renae Simmons who has taken on the district managers role.
The boys district team has not been selected yet. If any students from Colonel Light Gardens are successful I will update you all.

SAPSASA District Football trials and Netball trials
We have a number of students who will be trialling. We wish them all the best. The results will be available in the next newsletter.

T20 Cricket
Congratulations to our three teams that competed against other schools in our district. Our boys A team came 2nd, Boys B team came 6th and our girls team came 4th. It was an amazing day. A big thank you to Mario Tavasci who coached the Boys A team and to the parents that took time out of their busy days to transport the teams to Waite Reserve. Kim Boothey coached the girls team. Although our teams did not get through to playing at Adelaide Oval at the end of the year they did their personal best. Great team work all round.

STUDENTS vs TEACHERS NETBALL GAME
On Monday 11th December at lunchtime the students versed the teachers in an exciting game of netball. The final score was 11 to 13. A big thank you to the Sport Monitors who helped me organise the event, students who commentated, scored and umpired. A great team effort.

PE and Sports Update Term 4 Week 7

SAPSASA STATE CRICKET CARNIVAL
Congratulations to Jasmin E and Charlie F who played in the SAPSASA State Cricket Carnival and represented the City South District. Both teams were successful in winning a number of games. Well done.
Jasmin E has also been chosen to be the vice captain of the State Cricket Team in January. Another accolade that Jasmin should be proud of.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION WEEK –TOURNAMENT WINNERS
During PE Week (Week 5) the sports shed monitors ran lunch time activities including netball, football, soccer, table tennis and basketball for all year levels. It was a very successful week and made everyone want to do it again. See below some of the winning teams. A big thank you to the year 7 Sports Monitors who ran the session: Charlie F, Billy E, Noah H, Matt T, Callum S, Corey G, Jasmin E, Jessica C, Courtney W and Chantilly.

ANNUAL TEACHER VS STUDENTS NETBALL GAME
On Monday 11th December the teachers and students will be playing the annual netball game, commencing at 2pm. Good luck to both teams.

10th PACIFIC SCHOOL GAMES
The Pacific School Games, one of the biggest school sports events in the world, will be holding its opening ceremony on Sunday December 3rd at the Wayville Show Grounds. Over the week of the 3rd – 10th December 4,500 student participants from every State and Territory of Australia and 13 countries will be competing in sports including softball, netball, hockey, goalball, golf, swimming, diving, touch football, football, cricket, track and field and basketball at various venues around Adelaide. Some of our students will be participating. Congratulations to Angus C-Touch Football, Yui T – Swimming and Jasmin E – Cricket who have taken their sport to the elite level by representing South Australia. Tickets and passes are available online. I will be volunteering in the games village most nights so I hope to see some of you enjoying the stage entertainment, interactive sports and Expo as well as frequenting some of the sports events. PE and Sports Update Term 4 Week 5

SAPSASA STATE CRICKET CARNIVAL
Congratulations to Jasmin E and Charlie F who have been selected to play in the SAPSASA State Cricket Carnival representing City South District. The carnival will be held from November 20th – 23rd at various cricket grounds around the state. Congratulations Jasmin and Charlie.
SAPSASA GIRLS AND BOYS SOFTBALL
The girls softball team Ava B, Jessica C, Courtney W, Ruby Z, Abby K, Kiana M, Sammy B, Lily R, Emma S, Sophia W and Jessica Z played on Wednesday 1st November on Mortlock Park against Belair Primary. Final scores 3 to 7 in favour of Belair Primary School. A big thank you to Renae Simmons for taking the time to coach the girls team and to Karen Zilm for assisting.
The boys softball team Noah H, Jack B, Mitchell O, Josh B, Charlie F, Ashton B, Luke T, Isaac B, Oscar V, Samuel B and Jesse Z played against Eastern Fleurieu School on Thursday 2nd November on Mortlock Park. Their final score was 13 to 16 in favour of Eastern Fleurieu School. A big thank you to Shaun Heeps who coached the team this year,

SAPSASA GIRLS CRICKET
The girls cricket team Chantilly J, Jessica C, Paige M, Abby K, Kiana M, Jasmin E, Sammy B, Ruby Z, Emma S, Neha R, Aneesa S and Demi K playing their first game against Stirling East on Tuesday 7th November at Stirling. The final score was Stirling 4/55 Colonel Light 8/54. A big thank you to Mario Tavasci who helped coach the team this year.

SACA MILO T20 BLAST FINALS
The girls T20 Cricket team Jessica C, Paige M, Abby K, Kiana M, Jasmin E, Sammy B, Ruby Z, Emma S and Courtney W represented our district in the SACA Milo T20 Blast Finals at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday 14th November. The team won all games and played in the finals. They came runners up in the State Carnival. A great effort girls. It was the first time we entered a girls team in this competition– final scores against Cleve was 89 runs to 92 runs. A big thank you to Mario Tavasci who coached the team with me. During the day there was a catch competition where each school nominated one student as a representative to participate. Jessica C did us proud by coming first and winning the girls competition. She won a cricket stump set that glows in the dark. Congratulations Jessica. An amazing effort all round.

PE Week 4
In PE during week 4 Paul Scuteri from Sturt Lacrosse came and ran some lacrosse workshops. Why lacrosse? It was chosen to recognise Erin Bodner who has been an exchange teacher at our school this year. Lacrosse is the national game played in Canada where Erin calls home. It was a great way to acknowledge Erin’s nationality through the PE window. The students had a lot of fun and some took home a brochure so they could go and do a come and try session. PHYSICAL EDUCATION WEEK
Physical Education Week was this week. There were a lot of sporting tournaments for all the students to participate in at lunch times which included Soccer, Football, Basketball, Netball and Table Tennis, all run by the Year 7 Sports Monitors. There will be an update on the tournament winners in the next newsletter. Swimming was also on the agenda for some classes and of course everyone did some fun activities during their PE Lessons. The focus of the week was to highlight how important it is to be active, eat healthily and care for your wellbeing. It was a fun week with the theme ….We like to move it….Well done everyone.
