SAPSASA Boys Knockout Cricket

The SAPSASA Boys Cricket Knockout team will be playing Sacred Heart College on Monday 24th October at Sacred Heart. If the team wins they will be playing another game in November and the finals in December.  Good luck boys.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls Softball Knockout Teams

The SAPSASA Girls and Boys Softball teams have been selected. Congratulations to the following students who have been selected for the SAPSASA Girls Softball team. Jess C, Sammy B, Ruby Z, Jessica B, Estella A, Clare M, Ella C, Nicole R, Kiana M, Georgia R and Ruby C. Their first game was played on Wednesday 19th October against Mitcham Primary School. Final score 6-16. Our team will be playing their next game by November 11th. Dates and times will be advised as soon as possible. Well done team.

The SAPSASA Boys Softball trials went really well.  Congratulations to Noah H, Jed O, Dylan H, Kern M, Jesse Z, Jackson A, Connor S, Charlie A, Alex D, Jack B, Jack H, Mitchell O and Josh B who have been selected for the team. Due to a school withdrawing they have gone through to the next round. The next games details will be finalised shortly.

SAPSASA District Athletics

On Tuesday 27th September the SAPSASA District Athletics team went to Santos Stadium to compete in track and field against other districts in the state. The following students represented City South District.  Aleksander G, Ashleigh S, Brody F, Finn D-F, Jackson A, Kaitlin R, Kern M, Kye O, Marielle B, Matteo H and Sean D-W. All students did their personal bests and demonstrated amazing sportsmanship. Congratulations to Brody F who came 3rd in 2003/13 year old discus and Kaitlin R who came 2nd in 2006/10 year old 100m sprints. A great effort.

Just a reminder that all students need a broad brimmed or legionnaires school hat on Sports Day – “no hat, play in the shade” policy is for terms 1 and 4, whole day outdoor activities at any time of the year require wearing of an approved school hat.

SAPSASA Orienteering –teams

On Friday 16th September our six SAPSASA Orienteering teams went to Bonython Park to compete in the Relay competition. Our teams Team 1: Kern M, Dylan H, Jacob M; Team 2: Marielle B, Amelia K, Gracie T; Team 3: Charlotte O, Stella M, Emili R; Team 4: Finn W, Billy E, Charlie F; Team 5: Zac S, Giselle D, Sam B; Team 6: Thomas B, Oliver B, Isaac B all completed the courses and all participants improved on their time trials. Congratulations to our primary boys team Kern M, Dylan H and Jacob M who came 2nd overall against 13 other teams. A big thank you goes to Des Norman who has again supported the teams this year.

SAPSASA Boys Knockout Cricket and SACA MiloT20 Blast School Cup State Final

The boys SAPSASA Knockout Cricket team will continue their knockout games next term. Their first game will be against Sacred Heart College, dates are still to be finalised.

The team has also been invited once again to participate in the SACA Milo T20 Blast School Cup State Final Competition at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday November 8th. The team: Connor S, Patrick D, Kern M, Henry R, Jackson A, Alexander T, Thomas M, Charlie F, David W, Jed O, Dylan H, Daniel T and Matthew T and coaches Cory Smith and Mario Tavasci are already training and are looking forward to the competition.

SAPSASA Girls District Cricket Trials

Year 5, 6 and 7 girls who enjoy cricket are invited to trial for the SAPSASA Girls District Cricket team. Trials are on Monday 26th September, 17th and 24th October at Hendon Primary School. If anyone is interested please see me for a flyer.

SAPSASA Boys Cricket State Carnival

Year 6 and 7 boys are invited to attend selection trials to represent City South District in the upcoming SAPSASA State Cricket Carnival from November 21st – 24th. Trials commence Saturdays October 1st and 15th and Monday October 31st. Please see me for more information.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls Softball

Years 5, 6 and 7 students who play softball/baseball are attending trials this week and next to be considered for selection in the SAPSASA Boys and Girls Softball teams. The boys trial date is Wednesday 21st September and the girls trial is Monday 26th September both at lunch time. A big thank you to Shaun Heaps and Selena Bushell who have both offered to coach this year.

Little League Baseball

Students from aged 38 are invited to attend the Goodwood Indians Little League Baseball on Mortlock Oval on Friday nights from 5.30pm-6.45pm commencing 21st October or 3rd February 10 sessions, cost $70. Volleyball Clinics

There are two Volleyball School Holiday Clinics being held these School Holidays.

  1. Year 4-7 Adelaide Storm School Holiday Clinic: Thursday 6th of October @ Brighton Secondary School. Aimed at kids in years 4-7 looking to learn the basic skills of volleyball, great for those looking to try a new sport.
  2. Year 6/7 Development Clinic: Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th of October @ Brighton Secondary School. For kids who already have basic volleyball skills and are looking for further enhance their game through specialist volleyball coaching.

SAPSASA Boys Netball Knockout Competition Week 7

On Friday the 19th of August our SAPSASA Boys Netball team played Norwood Primary School. The game was won by Norwood. A big thank you to Gemma Williams for coaching. It was a great team effort.

Over the next few weeks all students will be learning the Health Hustle in PE lessons and house meetings.

Relay trials for Years 1-7 will be after lunch on Wednesday 14th September on Mortlock Oval. Reception classes have done theirs already. Jump Rope for Heart

The Jump Rope for Heart troupe from Parkside Primary school came along to our school on Wednesday 7th September and ran a number of workshops and performed a great routine to our students and celebrated with us. The favourite routines were pretzel, caboose, around the world, moonball travel and travelling triplets. The final amount raised by our students on Jump Off Day was $7,133.50 .  All students received a sticker in recognition of their participation. Students who raised $30 or more will be receiving their prizes in a few weeks. When they arrive I will distribute them. It was an amazing effort and outcome for such a worthwhile cause.

SAPSASA Boys District Football

Last week Jed and Jackson represented City South in the SAPSASA District Football Carnival. Their team won three games. A great effort.

SAPSASA Boys Netball Knockout Competition Week 7

On Friday our SAPSASA Boys Netball team will be heading over the Norword Primary School to play their last knockout game. If they win this game they will be in the grand final on Thursday 29th September. Good luck boys.

Some of our students will be invited to represent City South in the District Athletics on Tuesday 27th September. Another amazing achievement was that our school was awarded third place overall in the City South District.

I would like to thank Meg Wright and Renae Simmons who came along to support our students and marshalled Shot Put and to the parents who popped in and out throughout the day. It was an amazing effort from everyone.

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off day was on Tuesday 16th August. The afternoon was such a success. All students participated and met their skipping goals. Julie and her daughters Jade and Asha Wilson came along from Parkside Primary School and demonstrated some skipping tricks at the beginning of the jump off day to a very eager audience. The music played and everyone joined in. Students who raised sponsorship money need to now return their booklets or go on line to finalise payment so I can tally what we have raised. Already, just on line we have raised over $4,000, this is not including the sponsorship booklets. We also have a web page that you can visit and put in your donations at  www.heartfoundation.org.au  A Jump Off Skipping exhibition by Parkside Primary School will be held on Wednesday 7th September at 11.30am. I will be announcing the final amount we raised then. Stay tuned and again a big thank you for supporting this fund raising initiative.

SAPSASA Orienteering –teams

Mr Norman ran an information session last Thursday with interested students who would like to be selected for the SAPSASA Orienteering teams. Trials will be done on Thursdays on 18th, 25thAugust and the 1st and 8th September. The selected teams will then attend a practice session on the 17th September before Relay event on Friday 18th September in North Adelaide. It was wonderful to see so many interested students.

Netball Update

Boys aged between 9 and 16 years old a training session on Sunday 29th August is available at Priceline Stadium (formerly ETSA Park) to learn more about netball. Registration by 25th August. More information can be obtained from me.

2016 Maccas Next Step

Registrations for the 2016 Maccas Next Step program are now open!

 In 2016, participants will have the opportunity to experience AFL standard training facilities, and receive specialist coaching from SANFL players. Each participant will also receive:

·        Personalised Maccas Next Step Guernsey

·        SANFL Participant Show Bag

·        Family Pass to the 2016 SANFL Grand Final on September 27th

For a 5-8 year old child, the program will cost just $80. For 9 – 15 year olds, the program will be spread over two days and two different facilities, and cost $190. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet, be coached & mentored by current SANFL League players & development staff.

SAPSASA Boys District Football

Congratulations to Jackson A and Jed O who have both been successful in being selected to play in the SAPSASA District Football Carnival in Week 4, 22nd-26th August. They will represent our district, City South. Well done.

SAPSASA Boys Soccer Knockout Competition

The SAPSASA Boys Soccer Team played against St Peters Woodland College on Wednesday 27th July at Colonel Light Gardens Primary School. St Peters Woodland College won, the final score was 1-2. Our team were professional from start to finish. Well done Thomas W, Kern M, Billy E, Anthony T, Thomas M, Charlie F, Connor S, Cade H, Jaydon I, Ethan S, Jackson A, Henry R, Jed O and Archilles M. A big thank you to Charlie Tsecagias for coaching the team.

SAPSASA Boys Netball Knockout Competition

The SAPSASA Boys Netball Kockout team won against Woodville Gardens Primary School on Friday 29th July. Final results were 15-11. They will be playing Norwood at Norwood Primary School on Frida 26th August game starting at 12.30pm. Good luck boys.

SAPSASA Basketball Competition

On Thursday 28th July our boys team Jacob M, Jed O, Dylan H, Kern M, David W, Jackson A, Samuel B, Thomas M, Finn W and Lachlan W competed in their division. They successfully came 3rd overall in the carnival. A  big thank you to Gill Moss and Matthew Allen who coached the team.  Our girls team Jess C, Estella A, Ruby Z, Zara M, Lily V, Grace A, Ava B, Amelia E and Kiana M were successful in coming 7th. I was extremely pleased with both teams participation and how they represented our school.

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off day will be Tuesday 16th August, back up day Friday 19th August commencing at 2pm. Students have been given the sponsorship booklets and instructions to go online to register and start collecting sponsorship. We also have a web page that you can visit and put in your donations and messages of support at www.heartfoundation.org.au go in to Kids Join Now and search our school name. Please support students with their fundraising, it is for such a worthy cause, heart disease is one of the biggest killers in our society today.

SAPSASA Orienteering –teams

Mr Norman and I are looking forward to working with our SAPSASA Orienteering teams again this year. Last year our team won the shield. The Relay event will be on Friday 18th September in North Adelaide. A nomination sheet will be on the hall door for students to fill in if they are interested in this event. Trials will be done on Thursdays on 18th, 25thAugust and the 1st and 8th September. The selected teams will then attend a practice session on the 17th September before the event on the 18th September.

Baseball Tournament

Dylan H was selected as 1 of 14 players to play in the Seahawks Charter baseball team the end of last year. They won the South Australian State Little League Tournament in April which earned them a spot in the National Tournament which was just held in Lismore, NSW June 8-13. The coach was Scott Pratt. A special mention that Mitchell O, Jack H, Noah H & Jack B also played in the Seahawks Development Squad back in April. Well done boys.

Jump Rope For Heart – Jump Off Day 16th August

Our school is launching the Jump Rope for Heart program this week. Students are being given a letter (attached) outlining how to register on line and a sponsorship brochure so they can raise money for the Heart Foundation to continue their research.

Did you know that heart attacks are the biggest killer in Australia at this present time. A healthy and active lifestyle is so important for us all.

Jump Off Day is Tuesday 16th August from 2pm.
