SAPSASA Boys Soccer Knockout Competition

On Thursday 16th of June the boys soccer team played against Cabra College at Mortlock Park. The game was 2-2 so two 5minute halves had to be played. The score was even so it went to penalty shots. Colonel Light Gardens won by one goal. Final score 5-4.

The next boys knockout soccer match will be played against St Peters Woodland College on Wednesday 27th July at Colonel Light Gardens Primary School on Mortlock Oval. The game will start at 10.30am. Good luck boys.

SAPSASA Boys Knockout Netball

As the boys were successful in winning the game against Westbourne Park in May their next challenge will be against Woodville Gardens Primary School. The game will be played at Colonel Light Gardens on Friday 29th July commencing at 1.45pm. We wish the team every success.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls District Soccer and Hockey Carnivals

Billy, Ella C and Kaitlin R competed in the soccer carnival that was played at Bartlett Reserve from 20th – 24th of June. The boys City South Team came 2nd and all boys received a certificate. The girls City South team that Bronny R coached and I managed came 1st and all girls received a gold medal. Both teams have now moved up to Division 1 next year.

Alex Davey played in the hockey carnival over the week as well. His team represented the Southern Heights District and came 6th in the carnival.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls Basketball Knockout Competition

Both the boys and girls basketball knockout competition will be played on Thursday 28th July at Wayville Stadium.

SAPSASA Cross Country State selections to play in Canberra

Oscar C was invited to attend the Cross Country State selections. He was extremely successful and will now be second reserve for the national competition. Well done Oscar.

SAPSASA Athletics Carnival Trials (Reissued)

The Athletics Trials are fast approaching and will be run on Monday 4th July (Week 10) from midday. All students born 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003 and 2002 will be participating. The finalists in the field events and first and second placed students in the track events are invited to attend the Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 24th August at Santos Stadium.

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart Jump Off day will be Tuesday 16th August, back up day Friday 19th August commencing after lunch at 2pm. Students will be given the sponsorship booklets to take home next week. We also have a web page that you can visit and put in your donations and messages of support at www.heartfoundation.org.au go in to Kids Join Now and search our school name. Please support students in their fundraising, it is for such a worthy cause, heart disease, which is one of the biggest killers in our society today.

Table Tennis

An individual event is being offered to interested students who like playing table tennis. It will be held at the Newton Sports Complex on Sunday 24th July. Matches start at 9.30. For more information please catch up with me.

Sports Camp Australia

Stay Active in partnership with Sports Camps Australia are delivering a Junior Soccer Camp in the July school holidays. The camp will be held at Immanuel College in Novar Gardens and is the perfect opportunity for aspiring soccer players aged 8 – 13 years to develop their skills, whilst having fun at the same time! SAPSASA Girls Netball Knockout Competition update

On Friday 3rd June the SAPSASA Girls Netball Knockout team played against Westbourne Park Primary School. Although the team didn’t go through to the next round with a score of 9 to 36 they played extremely well. Thank you to Belinda W who supported the girls in a coaching role.

SAPSASA Cross Country selections for District Day Thursday 9th of June

Seven of our students Marielle B, Abby K, Oscar C, Mitchell O, Finn W, Asha D-G and Jed O represented City South District and participated in the SAPSASA District Cross Country event at Oakbank on Thursday 9th of June. Congratulations to Oscar C and Mitchell O who with two other students one from Mitcham and another from Westbourne Park came third overall in the 11year old boys team. They received a bronze medal. A great effort all round.

Our team played against Westbourne Park Primary School on Friday 27th May and won their game. Final scores were 20 to 10. The team will now play their next game by July.

SAPSASA Girls Soccer Knockout Competition update

The Girls Soccer knockout team played against Mitcham Primary School on Monday 30th. The final score was 1 to 8. Although they did not get through to the next round their team work, resilience and fair play was outstanding. I would like to acknowledgement Cade and Kern who refereed the game and to Jed, Jackson, Connor and Dylan who were linesmen. It was a great to see out our students supported each other and were able to use their sports expertise in all areas on and off the field. Thank you to Bronny R who coached the team.

Our SAPSASA Boys Soccer team; Jaydon I, Kern M, Cade H, Henry R, Jackson A, Connor S, Thomas M, Billy E, Jed O, Charlie F, Ethan S, Achilles M, Anthony T and Thomas W played against Mitcham Primary School on Wednesday 1st June. Final score was 6 nil. We now will play Westbourne Park Primary School at a date still to be confirmed. Practises will continue Wednesday lunch times with coaches Charlie T and Phil W.

Basketball team selected

Trials were held on Tuesday 24th May and the following students have been selected to be part of the SAPSASA Girls Basketball team. Congratulations to Jess C, Estella A, Ruby Z, Jess B, Zara M, Lily V, Ava B, Amelia E and Grace E. The competition will be held at Wayville on Thursday 28th July.

On Friday 27th May I took 40 students to the SAPSASA Cross Country trials held at Belair National Park. Seven of our students have been selected to participate in the SAPSASA District Cross Country event at Oakbank on Thursday 9th of June. Congratulations to Marielle B, Abby K, Oscar C, Mitchell O, Finn W, Asha D-G and Jed O.

We were extremely successful with placements with 13 students in the top 7-16 and a further 3 who came in before the 25th mark. All participants did their personal best. A big thank you to Hal M who marshaled on the day, and to the many parents who came to watch.

Just a heads up that we will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year. Jump off day will be Tuesday 16th August.  More information will be coming out by the end of the term.

The boys netball team played against Highgate Primary school on Wednesday 18th May at Colonel Light Gardens. The final score was 21 goals to 16. Colonel Light Gardens will now play against Westbourne Park Primary on Friday 17th May at their courts, game starting at 1.30pm.

The girls netball game will be against Westbourne Park Primary school on Friday 3rd June at Colonel Light Gardens, game commencing 1.45pm.

The boys’ soccer team will be playing against Mitcham on Wednesday 1st of June at Mitcham Primary School, game starting at 10am.

The girls’ soccer team will be playing Mitcham Primary at Colonel Light Gardens on Friday 27th May, game commencing 1.40pm.

The Cross Country event will be at Belair National Park this Friday 20th May commencing at 11.45am. All students are very excited. I will update you all on our successes after the event.

SAPSASA Girls Year 6 and 7 Netball Trials

Trials will be held starting Sunday 5th, 19th 26th June and 3rd July to represent City South in the SAPSASA Netball Carnival on Monday 15th August – Friday 19th August. You can obtain a nomination form from me. Nominations close on Thursday 26th May.

SAPSASA Girls Interstate Netball Trials for students 10-12 years

Trials will be held starting Sunday 5th June. The games will be played in Perth. If you are interested or require more information please contact me.

SAPSASA Boys and Girls Basketball trials

The year 6 and 7 boys came out on Tuesday for the basketball trial. The following students Jacob M, Jed O, Dylan H, David W, Jackson A, Samuel B, Thomas M, Kern M and Finn W will be playing at Wayville on Thursday 28th of July. Practise sessions will be held every Monday at lunch time in the hall.  A big thank you to Jill Moss who has kindly offered to coach the team.

The girls basketball trial date will be on Tuesday 24th May at lunch time in the hall. The students who are successful will be playing at Wayville on the 28th of July as well. Once the team and coach has been selected and I will notify you all.

SAPSASA District Softball Carnival

Congratulations to Ella and Nicole who represented City South District Softball team. The team came fifth in the competition. Well done girls.

SAPSASA District Cricket selection

Girls turning 10, 11 or 12 years of age in 2016 and LOVE Cricket are invited to trial for the District Cricket Team. Trial date is Thursday April 28th 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Friday April 29th 10:00 am – 12:00 noon, Sunday 15th May 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at Adelaide Oval Indoor Centre. Please register your interest by going to the SAPSASA Website and filling out the relevant information by April 18th.
