Sapsasa Orienteering trials
The Sapsasa Orienteering Teams were finalised last week. The Relay Championships will be held on Friday 11th August at the South East Parklands. SAPSASA Basketball Championships
On Wednesday 9th August our two teams went to Pasadena High School to compete with other schools in various districts in the Basketball Championships.
The boys team Mitchell O, Billy E, Daniel T, Dylan N, Charlie F, Joshua B, Nathan H, Ethan S and Callum S came 7th. A big to Ashley Blight who coached the team.
I coached the girls team Kiana M, Paige M, Abby K, Ruby Z, Ava B, Aneesa S and Emma S came 4th . Well done to both teams for representing our school so well. It was a great day overall.

Tae Kwon-Do
George England from National Taekwondo Adelaide comes to our school annually to run a free lesson to all students emphasising the importance of eating healthy, positive wellbeing and being safe. All students really enjoyed the session this week. Some chose to take a voucher to enable them to a months (four lessons) of Taekwondo. George’s lessons are conducted in the scout hall on Mortlock Oval. Feel free to contact George Engand on Mobile No. 0418 819 705 to discuss any information with him.

SAPSASA and PE Update Term 3 Week 1

Sapsasa Girls Knockout Football
Our Sapsasa Girls football team will be playing in the semi-finals against Lockleys North Primary School on Friday 11th August on Mortlock Oval. If the team is successful they will be playing in the grand final on Wednesday 27th September. Good luck girls.

Sapsasa Girls Knockout Netball
On Friday 30th June the Sapsasa Girls Netball team played Unity College at Murray Bridge. The final scores was 34 to 27 Unity College won. Congratulations to the team, Abby K, Courtney W, Demi K, Jessica C, Chantilly J, Kiana M, Ruby Z, Jasmin E, Emma S, Sammy B and Paige M. A big thank you to Jess Roberts who coached the team.

Sapsasa District Soccer and Hockey Trials
Charlie Fox represented the Sapsasa City South District Soccer in July. The district team came 6th overall. A great effort.
Isobell D, Ashleigh S and Georgina W represented Sapsasa Southern Heights and City South District Hockey. The district team came first. The team received a gold medal. A great effort from them all.

 Sapsasa Boys Knockout Soccer

Congratulations to Daniel T, Harry K, Nicholas W, James T, Ethan S, Billy E, Charlie F, Jasper L, Callum S, Sean D-W, Charlie W, Oscar C, Maxwell E and Ethan B who played their knockout soccer game against Cabra Dominican College at Cabra on Wednesday 21st June. The final scores were 5-1 Cabra’s advantage. A big thank you to Charlie Tsecagias who coached the team.

Sapsasa Girls Knockout Football

Our Sapsasa Girls football team, Jessica C, Ebony V, Sophie A, Gracie T, Chantilly J, Ariana T, Ruby Z, Charlotte O, Tyzana B, Sammy B, Paige M, Demi K, Abby K, Eliana F, Evelyn C, Jasmin E, Lily R, Stella M, Georgia L and Amelia K have played against Plympton Primary school on Friday 2nd June and Artdtornish Primary School on Friday 23rd June, winning both games. They are now preparing for the semi-final which will be played on or before the 25th August. The opponent team is still to be determined. Wednesday practise sessions will continue at lunch time with Mr Bennallack.

Sapsasa Girls Knockout Netball

On Wednesday 14th June the Sapsasa Girls Netball team played Westbourne Park Primary School. The final scores were 36-19. Colonel Light Gardens Primary School won. Congratulations to the team, Abby K, Courtney W, Demi K, Jessica C, Chantilly J, Kiana M, Ruby Z, Jasmin E, Emma S, Sammy B and Paige M who will now be playing Unity College at Murray Bridge on Friday 30th June.

 

Sapsasa District Netball and Football

Jessica C, Kiana M (Division 1) and Ruby Z, Paige M and Courtney W (Division 4) played for the Sapsasa City South District Netball team from 5th June to the 9th June at SA Netball Stadium. Both teams came 4th overall.

Mitchell O played for the Sapsasa City South District Football team from 5th June to the 9th June at Barratt Reserve. His team came 7th overall.

Sapsasa Orienteering trials

The Sapsasa Orienteering Teams are meeting weekly with Des Norman on Thursdays at lunch time in readiness for the Relay Championships on Friday 11th August at the South East Parklands. Final selection of the teams will be finalised Week 1 of Term 3 in readiness for the championships. Sapsasa District Soccer and Hockey Trials

Congratulations to Charlie Fox who has been selected to represent the Sapsasa City South District Soccer and to Isobell D, Ashleigh S and Georgina W who have been selected to represent Sapsasa Southern Heights and City South District Hockey. These students are playing two games a day at Barratt Reserve (soccer) and Grange Reserve (Hockey) from 26th June to the 30th June. Results will be posted in the next newsletter.

Sapsasa District Cross Country

The Sapsasa City South District Cross Country team went to Oakbank and ran for our district. Congratulations to Oscar C who received a Gold Medal, Lucas E- Silver medal, Max B – Silver medal, Ned B, Samuel A, Marielle B, Paige M, Abby K and Giselle D all achieved their personal best. A great effort from everyone.

Sapsasa District Athletics Trial selection

On Friday 2nd June all of the students who were born 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2003 came out to trial in the following events. 100m, 200m, 800m, Shotput, Discus, Long Jump and High Jump. As you can appreciate there are a few extra trials that need to be run this week  including 2007 Girls High Jump. The final list is being drawn up this week. Practise sessions for all of the events will be posted once the team has been selected enabling all students to be well prepared for the Combined Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 23rd August. Sapsasa Boys Knockout Football

The Sapsasa Boys Football team played against Blackforest Primary School on Friday 12th May on Mortlock Oval. Congratulations to Blackforest who won, they played an amazing game against us. It was a great team effort from our team. Save the date. Friday the 2nd of June, Mortlock Oval, 1.50pm. Our Sapsasa Girls football team will be playing their first game in the knockout competition. Jessica C, Ebony V, Sophie A, Gracie T, Chantilly J, Ariana T, Ruby Z, Charlotte O, Tyzana B, Sammy B, Paige M, Demi K, Abby K, Eliana F, Evelyn C, Jasmin E, Lily R, Stella M, Georgia L and Amelia K are challenging themselves in a new sport. Practises are going well with Rick Bennalack as coach. Good luck team.

Sapsasa Boys Netball

The Sapsasa Boys Netball game that was scheduled to be played on Tuesday 16th May was cancelled at short notice and was forfeited by Forbes Primary School. Our team will playing either Parkside Primary or Westbourne Primary before or on Friday 9th June. The date will be confirmed as soon as possible. The team will continue to practise their skills with their coach Renae Simmons.

Sapsasa Girls Netball

On Wednesday 17th of May the Sapsasa Girls Netball team played Mitcham Primary school at Mitcham. The final scores were 23 to 25 Colonel Light Gardens Primary School winning. A very close game.  Congratulations to the team who will now be playing Mercedes College on or before the 26th May. A big thank you to Jessica Roberts who coaches the team.

Sapsasa Football and Netball State Carnival team selections

Congratulations to Mitchell O who has been selected to play for City South in the Sapsasa Football State Carnival at Barratt Reserve, West Beach from 5th to 9th of June.

Congratulation also goes to Jessica C, Kiana M, Paige M, Courtney W and Ruby Z who have selected to play for City South in the Sapsasa State Netball Carnival at Priceline Netball Stadium Keswick from 5th to 9th June.

Sapsasa Girls Soccer

The Sapsasa Girls Knockout Soccer team played their first game against Mitcham Primary on Wednesday 17th May. It was a nail biting game, going to extra time and penalty shots. The final score was 2 to 4 Mitcham Primary winning. Congratulations to Aneesa S, Darcy G, Demi K, Gracie T, Chantilly J, Kiana M, Ruby Z, Charlotte O, Emma S, Sammy B, Paige M, Ava B, Neha R and Eliana F. Shane Pluck coached the girls so well. A big thank you also to Corey G, Sam O, Jordan M and Matt T who were our linesmen. A great game by all.

Sapsasa Cross Country

The time has finally come, the Sapsasa Cross Country team of 47 students will be heading up to Belair National Park on Friday 19th May to compete in the Southern Heights/City South combined Spasasa Cross Country Carnival. Successful students will be invited to attend Oakbank and run for City South district on Thursday 1st June. More updates will be coming.

Sapsasa Orienteering trials

Teams of three students will be trialling on Wednesday 31st of May to compete in the event coming up next term. More information will be posted with times, dates and venue. A big thank you to Des Norman who works with me to get so many competitive teams ready.

We are delighted to announce that Charlie Bodner was awarded the Colonel Light Gardens Primary Kelly Sports Star of the Term by our Kelly Sports coach for Term 1.

The reasons for Charlies nomination were he always attends the Kelly Sports sessions with a great attitude and gives 100% effort in the session activities and games

Below is a list of important dates for the up and coming SAPSASA events this term.

Boys football against Black Forest Primary School – Friday 12th May at CLG, game commencing 1pm.

Boys netball against Forbes Primary School – Tuesday 16th May at CLG game commencing at 1.50pm.

Girls netball against Mitcham Primary School – Wednesday 17th May at Mitcham Primary, game commencing 9.45am.

Girls soccer against Mitcham Primary School – Wednesday 17th May at CLG, game starting at 1.45pm.

Cross Country – Friday 19th May, leaving school at 10am returning at the end of the day.

Boys soccer against Mitcham Primary School – Wednesday 24th May at CLG, game starting at 10am.

Athletics trials – Monday 29th May from midday (standby day Tuesday 30th) due to weather.

Sapsasa Boys Knockout Softball

The boys Sapsasa Softball team Noah H, Jack B, Mitchell O, Josh B, Charlie F, Austin B, Luke T, Isaac B, Ocar V, Samuel B and Jesse Z will be playing their next game in November. The game that was scheduled for this week was cancelled due to Hackham East forfeiting. Practise sessions will commence again in Term 4.

The girls Sapsasa Softball team Georgina W, Courtney W, Jessica C, Jessica Z, Abby K, Kiana M, Sammy B, Ruby Z, Emma S, Ava B, Lily R and Sophie W played against Crafers Primary School on Tuesday 11th April on Mortlock Park. The final score was 24 to 5. Congratulations to our team. Their next game will be played in November. Practise sessions will commence again in Term 4.

Sapsasa Boys and Girls Basketball teams

Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to play in the Sapsasa Girls Basketball Championships in August. Jessica C, Kiana M, Paige M, Abby K, Ruby Z, Ava B, Eliana F and Aneesa S. I will be coaching the team. Practise sessions will be held on Thursdays commencing Term 2.

The Sapsasa Boys Basketball team has also been selected, congratulations to Mitchell O, Jack B, Daniel T, Dylan N, Charlie F, Joshua B, Nathan H and Ethan S. The Basketball Championships will be held in Term 3 on the 9th and 10th of August. Practise sessions will be held on Mondays commencing Term 2.

Sapsasa Boys Soccer team

The Sapsasa Boys Soccer team has now been selected. Congratulations to Daniel T, Harry K, Nicholas W, James T, Ethan S, Billy E, Charlie F, Jasper L, Callum S, Sean D-W, Charlie W, Oscar C, Maxwell E and Ethan B. Charlie Tsecagias has kindly offered to coach the boys. Practise sessions will be held on Wednesdays at lunch time. Game times will be sent out early next term.

Congratulations to Abbie K, Jessica C and Sammy B who represented City South at the Sapsasa Softball State Carnival from Monday 3rd April until Friday 7th April at Barratt Reserve, West Beach. The City South team came 4th overall. Well done girls.

Sapsasa District Netball Selections

The Sapsasa Netball State Carnival will be in Term 2, Week 6 from June 5th – 9th at Priceline Netball Stadium, Keswick. Five of our students have been successful in the selection process. Congratulations to Jessica C, Kiana M, Paige M, Ruby Z and Courtney W.

Congratulations to Yui T, William H and Bailey C who competed in the City South Sapsasa District Metropolitan State Swimming Championships on Thursday 16th March at SA Aquatics and Leisure Centre. They all achieved personal bests in their events. Well done.

Thank you to Renae Simmons who has offered to coach the team. The team played their first game on Friday 24th March against Westbourne Park Primary School on Mortlock Park. The final score was 18 to 7. Congratulations to our team. Their next game will be against Crafers before the end of the term.

Sapsasa Cross Country Carnival

The Southern Heights/City South Combined District SAPSASA Cross Country Carnival will be held on Friday 19th May from 11.45am – 2.45pm at Belair National Park, Main Oval. The Cross Country team has been selected for this event. Congratulations to Evie Z, Amelia H, Maggie H, Lucas E, Ned B, Toby B, Flynn S, Alex G, Leon R, Sam W, Max B, Jack M, Noah T, Nellie K, Giselle D, Lilly S, Chloe V, Syifa P, Samuel A, Matteo H, Isaac B, Max E, Bastian S, Alex S, Angus C, Dylan H, Marielle B, Abbie K, Lilly R, Paige M, Amelia K, Jessica Z, Stella M, Oscar C, Mitchell O, Jacob T, Jack B, Josh B, Chantilly J, Jessica C, Shae W, Kayla H, Callum S and Samuel B.  This event is used to select the SAPSASA District Cross Country Team for City South District to run at the State Cross Country Carnival on Thursday 1st June. Last year a number of students were successful in being selected. I will be meeting up with all the students this Friday. All students will receive a map of the course at Belair National Park, consent and medical forms.

This year is very exciting. We have for the first time an all girls football team. Sapsasa Boys and Girls Basketball teams

Due to the turn out of students and various skills Ashleigh Blight and myself have decided to run one more trial. Thursday 30th March. From this trial we will select the teams for the Basketball Championships  in Term 3, 9th and 10th of August. The teams will be published in the next newsletter.

Sapsasa Softball State Carnival team selection

Congratulations to Abbie K, Jessica C and Sammy B who have been selected to represent City South at the Sapsasa Softball State Carnival from Monday 3rd April until Friday 7th April at Barratt Reserve, West Beach.

Girls Sapsasa Netball State Carnival trials, Girls and Boys Sapsasa Soccer State Carnival trials, Boys Sapsasa Football trials. If you require more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

SAPSASA U12 State footy team

Students born in 2005 who are talented footballers who play for Colonel Light Gardens school, club or district are invited to go to the SAPSASA website and nominate via the online form to participate in the trials. http://www.decd.sa.gov.au/sport/pages/sport/interstatesapsasa/

The trials will run initially from April 18 to 20 at Westminster School from 9am to 2pm. The team selected will then travel to Darwin later in the year to represent South Australia. If you have any questions please contact me before the end of the term.
